QUOTE OF THE DAY
Vice President Joe Biden on the debt-reduction talks:
"Now we're getting down to the real hard stuff: I'll trade you my bicycle for your golf clubs."
COMMENT OF THE DAY
biograph_1985, on Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake's "Tim Pawlenty goes after Mitt Romney, part two" story:
Pawlenty has done himself permanent damage. He demonstrated that when challenged, he'll back down. Hitting Romney in the future isn't worth much now. He showed what he was made of in the first debate, and it isn't presidential material.
Q&A DISCUSSIONS
The Fix's Chris Cillizza was online at 11 a.m. ET to discuss the week in politics:
Q: What do you think Weiner's future is? Do you think he will run for Mayor? He does have quite a treasury left over from his congressional race. Do you think he is betting that people will forget about this in 2 years?
Chris Cillizza:
No chance he runs for Mayor in 2013. Just not happening. I don't totally write off his ability to run for something down the line but I think there will be an extended cooling off period. Like 5-10 years. At least.
