TONIGHT ON THE CBS EVENING NEWS

Here's a look at what we are working on for tonight's broadcast of The CBS Evening News:

Hi everyone, Katie is off tonight. I'm Harry Smith.

A monster storm named Earl could play havoc with Labor Day plans along the east coast. Earl strengthened to a Category 3 storm today, and soaked parts of the northeastern Caribbean with heavy rains and winds of up to 125 miles per hour. The National Hurricane Center says there's a chance Earl could brush the Atlantic seaboard later in the week. CBS News Correspondent Don Teague reports tonight from North Carolina.

It seems that almost everyone has weighed in on the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque," - the Islamic cultural center that's to be built two blocks from the World Trade Center site. "60 Minutes" Correspondent Scott Pelley brings you an interview with the man behind the project, Sharif El-Gamal, who claims he wants to unite the city, not divide it.

In Iraq, U.S. combat operations will officially end in two days. But there are still 50,000 U.S. troops who've stayed behind to train Iraqi forces. CBS News Correspondent Terry McCarthy tonight reports from northwest Iraq, where Iraqis and Americans are working side-by-side.

We end tonight with an encore presentation of Steve Hartman's "Everybody in the World Has a Story." Tonight, we'll have a Cold War story about Communism, and bodybuilding.

See you tonight. Harry

Here's an early look at one of the stories we are working on for Tuesday night's broadcast of The CBS Evening News: The new face of the war in Iraq. Soldiers looking to fight now find themselves carrying out a different kind of service. We'll explain tomorrow night, ONLY on The CBS Evening News.

Tonight, actress Jessica Alba joins Dave to give you a sneak preview of her new action movie Machete! Plus funnyman Jimmie Walker stops by, along with a performance from musical guests Ryan Bingham & The Dead Horses!

TUESDAY MORNING ON THE EARLY SHOW

Harry Smith, Erica Hill and Julie Chen anchor from New York. Dave Price brings us the weather. Betty Nguyen brings us the headlines. Maggie Rodriguez is on maternity leave.

In addition to the day's top headlines, here's an early look at some of the stories we are working on for tomorrow morning's broadcast:

A suspicious story you'll not want to miss. Richard Forsberg's wife Marcia, of 39 years, disappeared in February; at least that's what her friends and neighbors said. According to her husband, the last time he saw her was in mid-March. His initial story was that they were having marital difficulties and that she was in Arizona with friends. But his story didn't fly with police. They were not able to verify that she was in Arizona; even more suspicious was the fact that there had been no cell phone activity nor had she accessed her bank accounts. When police interviewed Forsberg, his story changed. He disappeared, leaving his car behind, before police were able to interview him a second time. Now the search is on for both Richard, who police say is a person of interest and his wife Marcia. Tomorrow morning, you'll get an in-depth account of this real-life mystery. Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County, California Sheriff's Department, will tell you about any clues they have turned up; the response to their TIP line and what they plan to do to find the missing couple. A real edge of your seat segment.

If you enjoy going to tag sales; flea markets and browsing the internet for bargains, you could be putting yourself and your family in danger. This is a buyer beware report you won't want to miss. Many of these products have been recalled by the Consumer Products Safety Commission because they were deemed dangerous. Last year alone, the Commission shut down nearly one thousand on-line auctions involving these recalled items. Early Show Consumer Correspondent Susan Koeppen will tell you what you need to know before you purchase what you think is a great deal. You won't want to miss this exclusive and eye-opening investigation. Valuable information that is sure to keep you and your family safe.

Attention men! If you're looking to spice things up in the bedroom, you may want to try a new type of foreplay -- believe it or not, it's called choreplay! The bottom line -- if you contribute to household chores, your wife will have more energy inside the bedroom. Choreplay has been studied by various researchers and in 2010 a tongue-in-cheek calendar called Porn For Women featuring men doing different chores around the house was published to stress the point. Now updated as a wall calendar for 2011, the photo series is also available, under the same name, as a book. According to Ian Kerner, PhD, a sex therapist and NY Times best-selling author of She Comes First when men do chores without being asked, they'll get more action between the sheets. So ladies, get your better halves to watch tomorrow morning because Kerner and Cosmopolitan's Executive Editor Nicole Beland will have all the reasons why if you exercise with the vacuum; mop or other household chores your day is sure to end with exercise of a different kind.

The end of summer is a calendar event for tennis fans everywhere. If they can't travel to New York for a seat at the U.S. Open tennis tournament, they have their eyes glued to the set. The tournament is the last jewel in the Grand Slam crown; the others are the Australian Open; French Open and Wimbledon. But, winning the title isn't the only stuff dreams are made of; being selected as one of 80 ball boys and girls is just as coveted. The two-month try-outs are grueling, with candidates vying for two positions -- net where they retrieve the balls hit into the webbing and back where they scurry after the ones that go wide or fly past the baseline. Men and women of all ages, athletes and fans alike vie for these front row seats to one of tennis' greatest tournaments. So, if you want to win one of these coveted spots next year, you'll want to watch this how to report from our very own Superfan Tyler McGill. A must see inside look at what it takes to defy the odds and land this courtside Grand Slam.. Then, McGill will tell you who the favorites are and who is most likely to bring home the trophy.

Tomorrow morning we'll show you some very handy and inexpensive ways to cut your electric bill. Matt Blashaw, host of the Do It Yourself Network's, Money Hunters, will share five simple projects that will cut your energy costs and have you singing all the way to the bank.
